I was invited to photograph a 12-day sea kayaking expedition and Chilean culture experience hosted by Spirit of the West Adventures, a sea kayaking company based out of British Columbia, Canada… quite frankly, the best company I’ve ever had the pleasure of working for.
Surrounded by an incredible group of people who started as strangers and quickly became friends, we bonded over the shared awe of the magic unfolding around us, an endless game of bird bingo, and long hours playing cards around the intimate ship dining table. I truly felt like I’d hit the random group trip jackpot with this fascinating, warm bunch of humans.
We were also guided by an exceptional crew, people who completely shaped the experience and without whom the trip wouldn’t have been the same. Together, we shared a journey full of adventure, awe, and unpredictability. The unexpected pivots, changing plans, and uncontrollable moments are what turned this into a true adventure.
Remote, untamed, and bursting with a kind of lushness my imagination could never have conjured on its own… I am itching to return to this wild, beautiful corner of the world.
